Rescued from old guestbook

Posted: September 13th, 2006 @ 8:57pm

We have had several guestbooks through the years. The first was free and hosted off site and worked great for the first couple years. They sold advertising space and our laptop was hijacked by a malicious script placed on their site. Luckily we had saved the web pages. The next 2 guestbooks got hit hard with spam or had too many security updates to keep track but we were able to save the data. Due to the number of new members in the past few months, we feel it would be of great interest to the new visitors to see who has visited and left a message in the past. This is a start, stripping the posts from a database to be usable is time consuming. Email addresses we know to be obsolete have been removed.

Hi I am the sister of SPC5 Clifford Weekley who was killed in June of 1969, I would love to hear from anyone that knew him in Vietnam. He was my only brother, and he meant the world to me and I would like to pass on as much as I can to my children about him, thanks for all of your help in this matter.

Although I have forgotten many names-here is the short roster of the dogs of the 570th in 1968-1969: Ace, Princess, Scarface and Widetrack. Ace became our mascot when Division HQ said too many dogs-pick one. SFC Prescott housed Ace for the remainder of our tour.

Widetrack is pictured with Joe Loadholtes in the gallery pictures.

The real gallery picture that challenges my memory is the 570th group picture. A couple of people I remember but don't see are Larry Cunningham, Al Carlos, Mae Turner, Bartlett, Lisman

As Bob Hope says thanks for the memories!

Hello Everyone: Well, it has taken me 2 years, since Chuck's passing to get to write in the guestbook. I have kept in contact with Wiggs and have made him a promise that I will come to the Nashville reunion. Now I will be able to meet all the guys that he talked about. See you there, hopefully!

 Dale Baker:
Thanks to all partipants for a great website, class A all the way. Mario, thanks for the great pics, thanks for sharing. See you all at the reunion. Dale Baker, weapons and maintenance, 69-70

OOPS, forgot to mention....Larry Barton, Doc Anderson and I got together in Mentone, Indiana this fall and spent the best part of the day (at the wall) and evening together. This was the 1st time Larry and I had seen each other for over 30 years.

Wow, after all these years. I finally found you. I've got many pictures and some mementos that I'll have to gather up.

"Honor thy father" I came upon this article when searching the net. Denny was my first cousin, he was three years older than me. He was certainly a unique individual. His brother Terry just passed away this year at the age of 55 from cancer we talked about Dennis alot and his MIA status. The article was a real joy to read. All the best to all you vets. I passed the article on to his sister, Sharon.

I just wanted to say "Thanks" to Dan and Donna for putting the "Honor Thy Father" article on their website. It is a real honor. I hope everyone enjoyed reading it. Happy New Year to all of you. GOD BLESS!
Kim

I was in the "Guns" platoon from 70-71. In Jan. or Feb. (I think) of 71, when F Troop 8Th Cav was in Quang Tri, we were hit one night with incoming rockets and had a direct hit on a hooch. There was a party going on that was thrown by a fellow Blueghost because he had gotten word his wife had just given birth to his son. Unfortunately there were several casualties. I walked out the hooch approximately 60 seconds before the rocket hit. For a long time i blocked it out of my mind but now I need some kind of closure and hopefully peace. Does anyone remember this night and maybe some of the names of those taken from us. Thank you.

I am friends with Kim Whitworth, daughter of Larron D. Murphy. I want to thank all of you for your support of Kim finding out who her Father was. You all have given her more information in the past couple of years than she has known in her lifetime. Because of everything that you have told her, Kim has only the image of a perfect Father in her mind. Thank you so much for giving her this precious gift. Thank you - Angie

Hi everyone!
I was with Blue ghost from Feb '68 (when we were still C7/17) until Feb 69. Flew C model guns for 6 months then scouts (Blueghost 17) for the last 6 months. I'm glad to see this great site and thank the owners for such a super job.

Hi All,
My name is Krista Morehead, my father was John Q "Buck" Morris, he was with the blue ghost in during 71-72 I believe, my memory is a little fuzzy on the dates at the moment. He and my mother DeAnne were killed in 79 by Drunk Driver I was 2 at the time. I am looking for anyone that knew them. He had served two tours in Vietnam and during second was with Blueghost flying Cobras. Most of the time in the states stationed in Fort Hood, if you have any information or memories please let me know. I have been learning more about him in the last few years, have no memories of either and would like to know what kind of people they were. Thanks for the help.

Paul Miller
I am a son of a former Blueghost, Pfc Paul Wayne Miller, F Troop 8th Cav. I never knew my father, my mother was 7 mo. preg. with me at the time. However, I have learned through the records a little about him. I am a part of the org. SDIT, Sons and Daughters in touch. I always wondered if I was the only one that grew up without a father. This is a great site! I really have been educated about the Blueghost. Thanks for giving us a place to come to and share.
Sincerely, Paul C Miller

From June 70 till July 71 I headed a small-6 man-MACV Mobile Advisory Team (MAT-I-58) in the remote former SF camp at Ha Thanh (A-104) in Son Ha District of Quang Ngai province. I well recall on a couple instances of heavy contact in our area the welcome arrival of the Blue Ghost bunch and how much their immediate assistance was appreciated by us on the ground as they greatly helped in resolving the issue to our advantage. I salute those brave skillful crews of the Huey birds and offer to buy any and all Blue Ghosters a beer anytime er' anywhere...

Was a member of F Troop, December 1971 to October 1972. Last position there was: Platoon Sergeant of the Scout Platoon. Rotated to Korea from Da Nang.

Was with Blueghosts from June 70 till May 71. I need some help. Was with F troop 8th Cav in Quang Tri Province when in i believe it was March of 71, when one night we had a direct hit on a hootch from a rocket attack that left several dead. Was knocked off my feet from concussion but didn't get a scratch on me. I have had a lot of problems dealing with this incident. Am in the process of applying through VA for help but they want verification of a date and at least one name of one of the deceased. I have mentally blocked all this out. If anyone remembers the date or names ,please, would you help me out? My email address is barrentinm@hotmail.com THANKS,  Marshall Barrentine
