This picture is of our Irish pilot. He came to the US Army through the embassy in Ireland and enlisted to learn to fly. With the red hair he stood out but was a great pilot. He was one of the two Blue Ghost pilots lost in Lam Son 719 when his cobra was hit with a rocket.

Actually, it was CW@ Hyrum Post and CPT Mark Afflerbach that were killed. Nick (Irish) Collier and his son attended a Blueghost Reunion in San Diego a few years ago.

It was WO1 Hyrum Barry Port who was killed with Mark Afflerbach. Port was a 70-7 classmate of mine. A Valorous Unit Award was just approved for the 14th CAB, including Blue Ghost, for Lam Son 719.

The 'Gogf' and I took a loach down to a navy base ? for a steam and Cream. Lost the engine and autorotated. We went before a board, read our rights and the next day we were off to Quang Tri. We were lucky. If thats luck
